Medias in north America are NOT telling the whole story for political propaganda! They only want to make Chine look evil! 90% Uighur are very happy for their life’s and works after government built massive highway and railway for them, the economy is booming and Uighur people are richer than ever in the history of China!

Stick to reporting in your own back yard John, your reporting on Venezuela and Turkmenistan and now china is full of confirmation bias. 1. Footage of uyghurs going to work, are uyghurs not allowed to work now? 2. Underlying problems of terrorism in the xinjiang area, why don't you tell the audience that this was a deliberate effort by the US government to destabilise the area? 3. Half these stories John reports on are from adrian zenz, a crackpot evangelical Christian waiting to be raptured

And thanks to Joe Biden, we have been able to continue similar labor policies in the US prison systems by putting dark skinned people into the prisons for relatively minor crimes for which whites, except maybe the poorest whites, are not committed. And Kamala Harris while State Attorney General refused to let anyone out of prison who would have been released under a new policy to let the least offensive folks out of prison so that they could be kept in the system working for something like a dollar a day. Don't think so? Google it fool

What China is doing is probably inspired by the way the US treated American Indians in the late 19th century and early 20th. The biggest difference is that US didn't have nearly as many Indians as China had Uighurs.

Don't use the word atrocities for knowledgeable experts with speak Chinese and speak the truth have described a giant effort to create a future for these people where they will be proud Chinese citizens, something that needs to be initiated towards children to give them what they didn't have just a year or two ago, actual knowledge of China, it's history, and its plans for the future. It's hard for most of us to understand that for the PCP, freedom of the people comes before freedom of the individual. But the result of China's policies has already put an end to the violences and the murder of 800 Han Chinese during their separatus Rebellion

@James Sarantidis i dont realy read those myself as i travel to china very often before covid. i made a search just now, there are plenty of channels on youtube. CGTN (if you want to hear what the opposite party is saying) and some british and american vloggers living in china such as "daniel dumbrill", "Cyrus Janssen", "barrett", "living in china" to name a few. you dont need to believe what i say, but need to have independent thinking. since when the western media got the reputation of telling the truth? just look back not far ago, all the wars happened in middle east, and the "massive destructive weapon" was just a bottle of washing powder and a plain lie. and now a "genocide"?? come on guys!! uyghur population increased more than doubled in the past decades. what a failure the chinese government had. lol.

@James Sarantidis thx for the text man, you made your point. pls go to xinjiang or any part of china to see it in person, you will realise 95% of the those "facts/truth" are plain bullshit propaganda.

    • James Sarantidis
      James Sarantidis

The problem is that these atrocities exist regardless of who is saying it. No country, no media and no person is always honest, that is not the point. This is not a contest of who is better, at least, I do not care about that. What I care about is that people there are suffering and denied even the right to have a family. This is a fundamental human right, no matter the culture you come from. Even more so in traditional China, where family is the basis of the society. Do other countries do this? YES! And they must be stopped as well. The first step to solve the problems of our modern societies is to find them, accept them and then understand them. Today's focus was China. I've seen similar videos about US and I know that the same is happening in my country. I also know that when enough people protest, changes can be made (see, China, USSR, USA and history in general). So, please, let's agree that what is happening there is not right and a solution must be found where these people can live with respect and decency.

All this seems far harsher than the measures imposed in anti terrorism/Deradicalisation Campaign in Xinjiang yet no one not even the most radical of Irish Republicans accused the British State of "Genocide" during the 1970's or 1980's. The British State eventually negotiated a settlements of sort - but the socialist secular Sinn Fein itself led the call for a "Peace Process" it appears to be difficult for state in China to find anybody to negotiate with amongst the minority of Uighurs involved in Radical Islamic/Jihadist groups that were responsible for Terror Attacks in Xinjiang. Information from global time: At the time of the first national census in 1953, the total population of Xinjiang was 4.8736 million. According to the sixth national census in 2010, the figure registered 21.8158 million, an increase of 3.3 times in 57 years. In recent years, the total population of Xinjiang has kept growing steadily. The statistical data show that from 2010 to 2018, the population of ethnic minorities and that of the Uygurs in Xinjiang has witnessed steady growth, while that of the Han ethnic group in Xinjiang has slightly increased. In terms of population size, from 2010 to 2018, the permanent resident population of Xinjiang increased from 21.8158 million to 24.8676 million, an increase of 3.0518 million, or 13.99%. Among them, the population of ethnic minorities increased from 12.9859 million to 15.8608 million, an increase of 2.8749 million, or 22.14%; from the perspective of ethnic groups, the Uygur population increased from 10.1715 million to 12.7184 million, an increase of 2.5469 million, or 25.04%; the population of Han ethnic group increased from 8.8299 million to 9.0068 million, an increase of 176,900 people, or 2.0%. The growth rate of the Uygur population is higher than not only that of the regional in total, but also that of other ethnic minorities, and is obviously much higher than that of the Han population. From the perspective of growth areas, the population of four southern Xinjiang prefectures increased from 8.951 million to 10.355 million, an increase of 1.404 million, or 13.55% during that period, which is the fastest in Xinjiang.

I'm not happy about the genocide denial coming to the surface recently. It comes in such a vast variety too, such as "whataboutism" or claiming "western propaganda", etc. The horrifying fact that other countries are attempting to decimate entire groups of people does not make this situation any less terrible. They all deserve our attention, our outrage and our support for the victims. The authoritarian chinese state, like our own homemade corrupt oligarchy, is not what I would consider a reliable source. They will show you want they want you to see to indoctrinate you, this is what the ruling class has always done.

The more I look into the Xinjiang reports, the more I found it more questionable. Why? Because it doesn’t gel with facts on the ground. The Uighur population has increased overall, not decimated; has higher birthrate than its Han counterpart in Xingjiang; can freely practice their worship. Has China heavy handily trying to eradicate Muslim extremism? Most likely. Has they trying eradicate a race, I seriously doubt it. Why should China allow existence of mosques and religious practice if they want to eradicate the culture, and send more if their children to college? Where is the original evidence of 1-3 million population held in concentration camp, have they been vetted? I think with the deep pocket, news media should do their own independent digging instead all resorting to the same reports coming from same think tanks. Because of the discrepancy of story and what’s happening in the ground, I’m having a reservation on these stories until further verification, maybe a few year down the road. Remember the Iraq’s WMD? The media was damn sure of it. You don’t want to trigger a war or a major because allegations that conflicts with reality. Yes, I do believe Trump Admin has a lot to do with this somehow. I hope I’m wrong. So far I have been right about Trump.

a hundred (most of which are actual terrrorists) against like a million civilians in concentration camps based on their religion only, is sure as hell comparable. God, you're a fucking joke, bud.

I would definitely encourage the Chinese government to continue sending Uyghur workers across the country and if possible, to other destinations across the globe (think of the Belt & Road infrastructure projects) if they can manage to keep the work force away from possible radicalizing influence at the hosting sites where some might disappear and reappear as a jihadist. Working as migrant workers is the only way to escape the traditional agriculture path in the home region which often than not has proven a dead end in many places of the wolrd. In fact, I would encourage China to do this not just to Uyghurs but every ethnity that is facing a perpetual poverty and surplus labor issue, and not just China, but every developing country.

Because your arguments have any evidence ? You can't just say "you're wrong" and call it a day. John Oliver brings evidence, you don't. Goodbye CCP bot
